I have conflicting interview dates and need to pick one. 

I want a place where they work hard, operate a lot, and do some research.

The clear choice here is Utah.  Utah’s volume and research is impressive.  Yale is known to be a “gentleman’s program” with a smaller operative volume yet still strong research.  Most of the applicants I talked to on the trail tended to agree.
