Kenny’s post popped up and reminded me of this:

http://www.bmj.com/cgi/content/abstract/327/7429/1459

Smith GC, Pell JP.Parachute use to prevent death and major trauma related to gravitational challenge: systematic review of randomised controlled trials.  BMJ. 2003 Dec 20;327(7429):1459-61.

I don’t foresee the tone of these articles being recreated in the red or white journals…

That’s a great article.  Wouldn’t it be great if there was a hip neurosurgical journal that had more of an edge?

I just want to point out that that’s the first time anyone has ever said “hip neurosurgical journal.”

Seriously though, do you mean a place to publish on more contentious topics, or more novel techniques, or interesting cases, or towards a more junior audience than NS or JNS?

Acouple formats might fit the bill:

Dr Appuzo is the editor of World Neurosurgery (used to be surgical neurology), http://www.journals.elsevierhealth.com/periodicals/wneu/home Aims are to:
“Create a principal international information conduit for establishing modernity of neurosurgical practice for the global community through contemporary and innovative journalistic communication technologies and channels.
Serve as a forum for scientific, clinical, educational, social, cultural, economic, and political ideas and issues for global neurosurgery.
Act as a primary intellectual catalyst for the field.
Enhance and move toward complete global communication related to all aspects of current and future neurosurgical practice, research, and progress.”

or maybe something along the lines of Dr Carter’s case presentations on the AANS website, with discussion, questions etc.

or maybe a peer-reviewed part of UH?
