Post-interview Protocol

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering what protocol is for sending thank you’s to programs where I’ve interviewed.  I feel it’s appropriate to write a thank you e-mail (is a written letter necessary?), but I’m not sure to whom.  Do I write to everyone who interviewed me or to the program director or chairman or what?

Any advice here would be much appreciated!

Go ahead and write thank you notes to the people you enjoyed interviewing with—its a courtesy, and not a requirement, and certainly does not change your ranking in any way whatsoever.

So write them if you’re a polite kind of guy, and don’t if you don’t care.  Writing it to the program director and chairman would be best, if you’re going to write any at all.

Do we send the thank you letters directly to the PD and Chairman or to the residency coordinator who can then distribute them?
