Hi everybody..
I have followed your threads, very informative and useful. But, there are very few info about applying to NS for IMG’s, which, understandably, reflects the highly competitive nature of the specialty. I want to ask about the realism of such an attempt. I believe my resume is pretty good, so far, with the exception that I haven’t had much US clinical experience. I have, however, scored well on the boards. At a glance:
Step 1: 261/99, step 2CK: 270/99, CS: passed first attempt.
Currently studying for step 3.
I observed in the US in neurology (critical care) and psychiatry and had good LORs from two attendings in the two observerships. I am also scheduled for an observership (1 month) of NS.
I am personally extremely interested in neuroscience and its correlation to human behavior. That’s why Functional NS is of glamor for me. I believe my background of being a resident in a combined Neurology/Psychiatry program in my home country will be helpful in that respect. However, I want to know how realistic an attempt at matching in NS this year is. And if not realistic, what can I do to make it so.
Thanks, guys!
